Bashaw graduated from Western
State University College
of Law in 1987 where she
was Editor-In-Chief of the
law review and where she
is a periodic adjunct professor
teaching Elder Law related
classes. She practices elder
law
in Laguna Hills, California,
and is a certified elder
law specialist. Mrs. Bashaw
is a frequent presenter
for California Education
of the Bar (CEB), for the
National Academy of Elder
Law Attorneys and for the
California Advocates for
Nursing Home Reform.
Mrs.
Bashaw is a Past President
of the National Academy
of Elder Law Attorneys.
She was named a Fellow of
the National Academy of
Elder Law Attorneys in 1997.
Mrs. Bashaw is also the
past chair of the exam writing
committee for national certification
of elder law attorneys through
the National Elder Law Foundation.
She is co-author of California
Durable Powers of Attorney,
a CEB publication, Special
Needs Trusts, a CEB publication
and co-author or California
Guide to Tax, Estate &
Financial Planning for the
Elderly, a Matthew Bender/LexisNexis
Publication. She has also
authored many articles.
For
her pro bono service and
for her pioneering work
in elder law, Mrs. Bashaw
received the California
Women Lawyers’ Fay
Stender Award in 1997, the
Teresa Foundation Award,
in 1998, was named to the
Hall of Fame at Western
State University in 1999,
received the OCBA Harmon
G. Scoville Award in 2000,
received the Orange County
J. Reuben Clark award in
2003, the State Bar of California
Appreciation Award for exceptional
service and contributions
to the legal profession
in 2005, she was recognized
as the 2008 Woman Lawyer
of the year for Orange County. Mrs. Bashaw served
as a delegate to the White
House Conference on Aging
(WHCoA) held in December
of 2005. Such a conference
is held once every 10 years. |
Melinda Hunsaker
|
Melinda Hunsaker is a Managing Partner at McGonigle & Hunsaker, LLP. Her practice includes Medi-Cal Planning, Applications, and Appeals, Estate Planning and Trust Administration, including Special Needs Trusts, Probate, Conservatorships, Guardianships, and other Elder Law and Special Needs Law related matters. Ms. Hunsaker received her law degree from Western State University, College of Law, graduating cum laude in December of 2005, and was admitted to the California State Bar in May of 2006.
Ms. Hunsaker is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation, the only organization approved by the American Bar Association and the California State Bar to offer certification in the area of elder law. Ms. Hunsaker is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) Trust and Estates section, the OCBA Elder Law section, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, of which she is also a board member, and the Special Needs Alliance, an invitation only membership organization of attorneys holding its members out as recognized experts in the field of special needs planning, trusts, and related governmental programs.
Ms. Hunsaker is a regular volunteer at the Orange County Probate Court’s free Limited Conservatorship Clinic and has been published in the Orange County Lawyer. Ms. Hunsaker frequently gives presentations throughout Southern California to churches, schools and community organizations for seniors, people with special needs, and their families, as well as provides training to attorneys and other professionals, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities.

McGonigle

Christina McGonigle is a Managing Partner at McGonigle & Hunsaker, LLP, a law office that serves seniors, people with disabilities and their families. She graduated magna cum laude from Western State University College of Law in 2005. Prior to attending law school, she received her Bachelors degree in Political Science (cum laude) from California State University, Long Beach.
Ms. McGonigle is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association Section on Elder Law. She is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Probate Section of the Legislative Resolutions Committee. Ms McGonigle serves on the Advocacy Committee of the Alzheimer's Association, and meets with the legislators to advocate for issues affecting seniors. Ms. McGonigle is a frequent presenter and community volunteer for organizations that serve disabled adults and seniors. Ms. McGonigle practices in the areas of Trust and Estate Planning, Special Needs Trusts, Trust Administration, Conservatorships, Litigation, and Medi-Cal Applications and Appeals.
